BBQ-Toro Kazan, Cast Iron Pot, Traditional Cast Pot

A Kazan is a heavy, traditional, cast iron pot with a perfectly fitting lid, which can be used for cooking, frying, stewing, deep-frying, steaming and baking anywhere. Whether it's a fireplace, barbecue area or campfire, it is mobile and flexible to use.

Thanks to its high mass (cast iron), the Kazan regulates uneven heat, thus enabling even cooking.

BBQ-Toro's Kazans are pre-seasoned and can be used immediately. Detailed instructions are included in the delivery, should re-seasoning be necessary after use.

Whether it's a fireplace, barbecue area or campfire, the cast iron pot is mobile and flexible to use. The Kazan fits ideally into an Utschaka, on a fire barrel or a rocket stove.

In the Kazan, dishes such as the typical Russian rice pan Plov, a Ukha (fish soup) and much more can be prepared with ease. Thanks to its shape, the Kazan is also ideal for Asian cuisine.

Information on seasoning
The BBQ-Toro Kazan is already seasoned and can be used immediately. If re-seasoning is necessary: Clean the Kazan with hot water. Then rub it with tasteless, vegetable fat (e.g. coconut fat). Place the Kazan upside down in the oven (or better, outside in a hot kettle grill) for one hour at 200 °C. Rub off any remaining fat. Done. Repeat this treatment regularly so that the pores are filled and the Kazan is optimally protected from rust.

Information on cleaning/care
Hot water is sufficient for cleaning - scrub off coarser food residues with a brush. Never use soap or harsh cleaning agents. These destroy the fat layer and the Kazan must then be re-seasoned (see above). Do not store food residues in the Kazan. Remove ash immediately after use, as this otherwise promotes rust in conjunction with moisture.

Information on storage
Grease with good cooking oil and place in kitchen paper. This way, the Kazan will easily survive longer storage periods.

A cast iron kazan is a cooking vessel designed for preparing food at high heat, whether over an open flame, on a grill, or in an oven. Use the kazan only on stable, heat-resistant surfaces to prevent it from tipping over, which can cause serious burns. The vessel becomes very hot during cooking, and improper handling can cause serious injury. Always use heat-resistant gloves or utensils to avoid burns. Ensure the vessel is not left unattended on heat sources to prevent overheating and fire hazards. Never add cold water to a hot kazan to prevent sudden temperature changes that could cause cracking or breakage. Regularly inspect the kazan for damage, especially rust or cracks, as these can compromise its stability and safety. Keep the kazan out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidents.
